We love having visitors! We have had people visit us almost every month since we moved to California. Over the weekend Stephen's brother Justin and his wife traci came to town. Since Stephen's birthday was earlier this week they brought him an awesome birthday present and took us out to dinner. In addition to a Justin bieber card, they got Stephen an external hard drive with tons of movies on it and a thing to play the movies on our tv with. I can't wait to start watching them!
The first day they came in I had work. But Stephen went with them to a giants game. The next day I also had work. But after work we met up with them in San Francisco and walked around haight ashbury which is where all the hippies use to hang out back in the day. We saw some pretty interesting things there.
For dinner we went to Tony's pizza in the north beach neighborhood. It took so long to find a parking spot. Once we got to the restaurant there was a nearly two hour wait. The longest I have ever waited at a restaurant. But we wanted to try it because it was supposed to have the best pizza in the country. It was pretty good. We shared a huge pizza with three sections. It was supposed to be like a three course meal.
The next day we went to breakfast at Bette's ocean view diner on fourth street in Berkeley. It was featured on diners drive ins an dives. Stephen got a banana run souffle pancake and scrapple. I had fish tacos. After breakfast we drove down highway one and stopped at a pretty beach called gray whale cove. We had to walk down a bunch of steps because the beach was surrounded by cliffs. It was really pretty. We even saw a naked guy. But we weren't close enough to make out any body parts.
We finished the day off by walking around union square and looking at some shops. It was fun to have Justin and traci in town. I was sad to see them go. Here are some pics

Four months
Baby Stephen is now four months old! He gained a lot of weight since his last well-baby checkup and now weighs 17 lbs 12 ounces and is 26.5 inches long! He is such a chubster!
He learned how to roll over this month and also knows how to put himself I sleep at night! He doesn't nap well during the day but can sleep up to 12 and a half ours straight at night!
I returned to work this past month. It has been hard to leave baby Stephen. But I'm glad that Stephen is able to stay at home with him while I am at work.
Baby Stephen loves reading stories with his dad and often tries to turn the pages of his board books by himself. Baby Stephen loves being forward-facing in his baby carrier especially when we are out and about at the grocery store or at target.
We sure do love our little guy!

Three months!
Baby Stephen turned three months old on August eighth. And boy, has time flied! He became much more social this past month. He loves it when you sing songs to him or talk to him. And he usually tries to sing and talk back. His favorite songs include you are my sunshine, popcorn popping on an apricot tree, and three little ducks.
This month he learned to start grabbing stuff. He loves to grab our fingers, clothes, his toys, blankets, and pretty much everything in reach.
Here are some pictures.

Trip to Utah
During our trip to Utah we spent most if our time with family, friends, and enjoying food. Although we live in an area known for great restaurants, we have a few favorites in Utah that we need to visit every time. They include pizzeria 712, Gloria's, communal, cafe rio, kneaders, and zupas. There are also several others in salt lake that we didn't make it to.
It was so nice to see our family and friends. My family is pretty small; only my dad, brother in law, and sister in law live in Utah. But Stephen is one of 6 kids who are all married with kids so there was no shortage of people to see.
We were fortunate to do everything we wanted to during our trip. Here are some pictures.

Baby blessing
This summer has been a busy one for us. In addition to having a new baby, Stephen had an internship this summer in silicon valley (about an hr away) and a job at uc Berkeley. We have also been busy with lots of visitors.
Since Stephens internship ended mid-July we decided to go to Utah to visit family and bless the baby. It was great to see our family and friends and introduce our baby to them. Stephen gave the baby a wonderful blessing. I cried. Here are some pictures from his special day.

Two months!
Baby Stephen turned two months old on Sunday! We have really enjoyed the last two months. And they have gone by really fast! I have been really lucky to have so much help. My mom has been here the last month and has been really great at helping me with the baby while Stephen is working and at his internship.
Over the past month baby Stephen has started to interact with us more. His vision has improved which means he can now make eye contact with us. He also smiles, coos, and occasionally laughs. Besides eating, sleeping, and pooping; he enjoys laying on his back and watching the animals in his crib mobile circle around as well as looking at himself in the mirror over his changing table. He smiles when we pedal his legs like he is riding a bicycle and loves it when his dad plays with his feet and arms. He has also started sleeping longer stretches at night. He sleeps in his crib at night but will only sleep if he is elf during the day so I spend most of the day cuddling him.
At his 2 month appointment he got 3 shots and an oral vaccine. He did not enjoy that. He was also weird and measured. He now weighs 13 lbs and 12 oz. (88th percentile) and is 24.5 inches long (92nd percentile.).
He has really enjoyed having his grandma here and he also got to meet his uncle and aunt this month! Here are some pictures.

One month
I feel bad I forgot to write something about the baby turning one month! So this is a catch-up post.
During baby Stephen's first month of life he had a few visitors. Stephens mom came from Utah for a week, and my mom and aunt came from Singapore for several weeks. Stephens sister and brother in law also visited with their two kids. It was so nice to have some extra help. I was not prepared for how difficult the first few weeks with the baby would be. The baby lost a lot of weight during his first few days of life so the doctor had us on a strict feeding schedule of 2 ounces every 2 hours. This meant waking up at all hours of the night and sleeping for 30 minutes at a time. It was pretty exhausting. Our lives completely changed when the baby was born. It made us really cut out the excess in our lives and just take care of our basic needs. Food, sleep, an occasional shower.
Although it was a rough first month, I have really enjoyed it. Being a mother makes you more selfless. All I want is for my baby to be happy and healthy. It made me realize how many un important things i had previously devoted my time and energy to. He is the sweetest little guy. Seeing him grow an learn is the best thing.
After his first week he started gaining weight fast. A his two week appointment he was 8.5 lbs. which was a little ahead of where he should have been. During baby's first month of life he spent most of his time sleeping, eating, and pooping. Most of these activities he did while snuggling me. Pooping and passing gas was pretty tough on his little tummy but he has improved since then.
