The best baby toy
We got a new toy for baby Stephen and he loves it! It is the Lamaze motion symphony gym. He can sit there for quite a while looking at the toys move around or looking at the mirror. It is nice to have something to keep him occupied because I usually spend the whole day holding him.
Sick = not fun
On our anniversary I started feeling pretty sick. I wasn't exactly sure what it was but I was worried about getting the baby sick. Ever since baby Stephen was born I have had trouble breastfeeding. We stayed in the hospital an extra day so I could figure it out and since then I have met with lactation specialists several times. Things have been getting easier but not without bumps in the road.
The day after my anniversary I was talking to my sister in law on the phone about breastfeeding and the lumps I have been getting in my breasts from plugged milk ducts. I was still feeling sick when I talked to her so she suggested I call the doctor. When I got off the phone with her I took my temperature and it was around 101 degrees. I called an advice nurse and she said I most likely have mastitas and prescribed me antibiotics.
After taking the antibiotics for a couple days I felt much better and the lump was gone but I kept taking the medication as advised. On Sunday
I woke up and my entire left breast was solid as a rock and very painful. I also was feeling sick again and had a fever of over 101. I called the advice nurse and they told me to go to he emergency room because my antibiotics weren't working and I needed to get them through an IV.
We ended up being in the hospital for over 8 hours. It was frustrating being away from the baby and having to do so many tests. The doctors wanted to make sure my. Vitals were stable before they released me. They prescribed me new antibiotics and told me if they don't work I will need to stay in the hospital for a few days.
I'm feeling much better now but still getting a lot of plugged ducts. Who knew breastfeeding could be so difficult.

3rd anniversary
Stephen and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary on June 4th. (kind of) it isn't exactly easy to celebrate with a newborn baby. This summer Stephen has an internship at an architecture firm in silicon valley which is about an hour from where we are which means he doesn't come home until pretty late. On our anniversary he came home and surprised me with flowers and a cute card. It was so sweet. I have also been craving sushi for the last nine months so Stephen got takeout from our favorite sushi place, kirala.
These past 3 years have been so wonderful. This last year we were faced with many challenges and changes which have made us grow closer together.

One month!
Baby Stephen is now one month old! He loves sitting in his swing or laying in his crib looking up at his mobile. He is a big boy with a big appetite. At his last weigh in he was 10 lbs and 6.9 oz! The doctor says he is gaining weight twice as fast as the average baby. He has grown out of his newborn clothes and even 0-3 mo clothes are starting to look snug. We love our baby Stephen.
